Prep.

Before I started sewing I always thought that it was a lot of sitting at your machine creating beautiful pieces of work with special tools that made everything perfect. How wrong I was. I soon realised that (or so it seemed to me) most of sewing is actually preparation and even if I'd spend hours cutting out each piece of fabric it always ends up a little bit wonky, I think this translates to the final product as well... it ends up not looking quite as wonderful as I would like it to. No matter what I used (rotary blade, scissors) nothing was working.
It really was some time (and many frustrations) before I realised what the problem was...my markings and lack of ironing! I always thought "well if i stretch it whilst I measure it, it's the same thing" well wrong; each of those little bumps I ignored or stretched out willy-nilly resulted in wonky lines. Silly Abby.
If I'm in a rush (and it's something for myself) I'll save myself some time and skip some ironing I don't mind something that is a tad wonky but I'm glad I did learn the importance of ironing.
These pictures are of a couple of 'in progress' projects I have going on they were taken on my iPhone which is why they aren't of the most fantastic quality.  =)

An introduction.

Holy first posts!
I have read and re-read so many articles and tips for starting a blog but lets be honest, the first post will be washed away and no one will know it exists.
So lets just get the basics out of the way:

That's me, crocheter, seamstress, knitter, baker, painter, sculptor, brain surgeon, mind reader, gardener extraordinaire! (I wish). I am by no means accomplished at any of these things but I do try and often will force something into being cute and productive.

I'm here to join the blogging community with craft tales, projects and general life.

(No one reads the first post of an unknown.)
